Philus is a slave in Book 2 of the Cambridge Latin Course. He looks very similar to Grumio . Due to this, it is often supposed that Philus is the resurrected form of Grumio, sent to resolve Earth of its various mathematical issues. Currently, it is unknown as to whether Philus can cook.
Philus is very clever and can count. In the first story, "tres servi", he complains about Britain, saying that it is always raining and that he wants to return to Italy where it is sunny. He is owned by Salvius and Rufilla.
